2024 was a busy year with the development of the new JoomliC site, the development of extensions to improve it (subscription management, language pack management, etc.) and also to perfect iCagenda's multi-platform compatibility so that it works equally well from Joomla 3 to Joomla 5.
All this work hasn't led to any progress on iCagenda's new functionalities, and 2025 will change all that!
Upcoming iCagenda 4.0
iCagenda 4 is on its way, and will allow me to implement a lot of new features and evolutions!
Many of these planned improvements are already on the roadmap. Others will be added as things progress. You can consult the roadmap, which is updated regularly: https://www.icagenda.com/docs/roadmap
This version will be compatible with Joomla 4 and Joomla 5.
And what about Joomla 3?
However, I've noticed that a number of you are still using Joomla 3, so I'll continue to maintain iCagenda 3.9 until at least October 2025, as a transitional version between J3 and J4/J5. This version will only receive maintenance updates to fix any bugs and security issues.
Important note if you're still using Joomla 3: keep your iCagenda 3.9 version up to date, as this will enable you to upgrade your site to Joomla 4 without having to do anything to iCagenda, and it will work without a hitch!
New extensions!
As I've developed some extensions to meet personal needs with the new site, I'm going to release these publicly, with both free and paid versions.
The first to be added to my catalog is iC Login, with a free version that lets users connect to your website with an email address instead of a username. A commercial version adds the possibility of logging in with a modal window, and new features will soon be available in a new release. Read more about iC Login.
For extension developers who use Transifex to manage the translations of their extensions, and who want to generate language packs for their users, I'm preparing a J4/J5 version of a cTransifex fork that I made for my own needs under J3 when development of the latter was halted. It works with the new version of the Transifex API and improves performance. For those interested, remember the name: iCtransifex, available by this summer.
And I've got lots of ideas in the pipeline!
How can you help?
There are lots of ways you can help the project and developments evolve:
- Use iCagenda and the new extensions and talk about it!
- Give your opinion on the JED (Joomla Extensions Directory) if you love what i do.
It only takes 5 minutes and is a great help: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/icagenda/ - Take out or renew a pro subscription:
Thank you for your support. You rocks!
